Jim Boldebook - A Tribute

Described as a visionary, a hard worker, and most importantly: a good man, Jim Boldebook created CBC Automotive Marketing over forty years ago. A small (but mighty) agency, CBC has been the home to many long term employees whom have helped the agency grow from humble beginnings to National renown.

Sadly, Jim Boldebook passed away on May 24th, 2025 and this loss is felt deeply throughout the agency. Jim's influence is ever present at CBC from the creative he produced, to the work ethic he instilled in everyone at the company. But, for Jim it wasn't always about work. Jim made it a point to take care of his employees; to provide a place that both pushed them and supported them; a rare combination even now.

About Jim

Jim was an entrepreneur and his skillset knew few bounds. He owned The Three Thieves Restaurant in Saco, a partner of the Oxford Casino, and most notably (for us, anyway) the founder of CBC Automotive Marketing.

Jim started CBC in 1983 after meeting "Jolly John" Pulsifer and recognizing the need to get John's message (and his presence) out to the world. The combination of Jim's marketing knowledge and John Pulsifer's enthusiasm for people and the car business was as close to a "magic bullet" we've ever seen in 40 years. The combination put both Jolly John and CBC Automotive Marketing on the map.

Even after Jim retired, he continued to have a presence in the automotive world. He regularly wrote for Dealer Digital and contributed to CBC's Marketing efforts; whether he was lending his voice to many of our commercials, or sharing his knowledge and marketing acumen with the current staff, Jim's presence has always been a part of the company.

Jim Boldebook created a company with national influence, but his biggest influence was on the lives of his employees, many of whom have graciously shared their thoughts publicly. To read each Tribute in it's entirety, simply click the image below.

In our lives, there are but a few people that impact our lives dramatically for the better. I'm so grateful to have known you, worked with you, and learned many life lessons from you.

Thank you for your faith in me, investing yourself into my life, and fashioning me into the man I am today. You're an extraordinary communicator who could maximize the power of a microphone. I admired you then as a novice broadcaster and admired you even more as your associate and employee at CBC. You'll always be loved by this simple man that you helped mold. God bless you!

Jerry
